About Joseph Welch
Joseph P. Welch is a criminal defense lawyer and community organizer in St. Louis, Missouri. Most of his practice is devoted to defending people charged with drug offenses and other felonies in the City of St. Louis and St. Louis County, and occasionally in the counties of St. Charles, Franklin, and Jefferson.
He attended law school at Washington University in St. Louis and received his undergraduate degree in Geology at the University of Missouri, Columbia. He left solo practice in 2006 to join the firm of Derald L. Gab, P.C. as an associate attorney.
In 2008 he founded Legalize St. Louis!, a non-profit petitioning to decriminalize marijuana in the City of St. Louis. He is one of the directors of Greater St. Louis NORML, the St. Louis chapter of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML) and a member of the NORML Legal Committee. He is also a card carrying member of the ACLU, Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (LEAP), and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL).
